H G Metal manufacture SS 304L Angles, which is a T-300 series stainless steel austenitic alloy. ASTM A240 Angles is an extra low-carbon variation of SS 304 angle with a 0.03% maximum carbon content that eliminates carbide precipitation due to welding. As a result, this AISI SS grade can be used in the “as-welded” condition, even in severe corrosive conditions. Post-weld annealing is not normally required in ASTM A182 Stainless Steel 304L Angles to restore the excellent performance of these grades in a wide range of mildly corrosive conditions. Weld annealing is only necessary in applications where stress loads are excessive. SS 304L Angles has good oxidation resistance in intermittent service to 870 Degree C and in continuous service to 925 Degree C. However, ASME SA 182 Type Angles has slightly lower mechanical properties than the standard 304 grade. Meanwhile, low carbon content in these ASME SA 182 Angles means less carbide precipitation in the heat-affected zone during welding and a lower susceptibility to inter-granular corrosion.
ASME SA 182 Type 304L Angles is an economical and versatile corrosion resistant stainless steel suitable for a wide range of general purpose applications & is mainly used in welding applications where corrosion resistance is a concern. For example, UNS S30403 Angles is frequently used in automotive fuel lines and other tubing applications. Typical industrial sectors of DIN 1.4307 Angles are: Food Processing, Chemical Industry, Brewing, Pharmaceuticals, Petrochemicals and more & may be joined by all commonly used brazing and welding methods including oxyacetylene. 304L SS Angles has excellent low temperature properties and responds well to hardening by cold working. This grade is subject to pitting and crevice corrosion in warm chloride components. For severely corrosive environments, the lower content of Grade 304L SS Angles is preferred because of its greater immunity to inter-granular corrosion.
Type 304L Angles is non-magnetic in the annealed condition and not hardenable by heat treatment. Both hardness and tensile strength can be increased by cold working, which may cause slight magnetism. Meanwhile, Type 304 & 304L Angles have similar properties and in certain cases are stocked with Dual Certification, where it is concluded that each item has properties and a composition which comply with both steel types.
